ESSEGI’s automated storage solutions are known for their high-density design and precision material handling. When integrated with the XRHCount Inline, each reel entering the smart warehouse is automatically verified, counted, and tracked.
Count results are directly transmitted to the ESSEGI warehouse management software, ensuring real-time inventory accuracy, whether the reels are brand new, partially used, or being reintroduced to stock.
Together with ESSEGI, VCcount is enabling intelligent material storage workflows, built for accuracy, traceability, and zero manual steps.

HIGHLY FLEXIBLE SYSTEMS FOR THE AUTOMATED STORAGE OF ESD COMPONENTS

The combination of Kardex and VC-Count technology results in a highly flexible solution for the automated handling and storage of electronic components. At the heart of the system are Kardex Shuttle vertical storage systems (VLM), which serve as high-density storage for SMD reels, THT material, dry packs or JEDEC trays – either mixed or sorted by type, depending on process and quality requirements.
Material arrives in batches at goods-in and is fed into the system either fully automatically via AGV/AMR or manually via trolleys. From this point onwards, the Kardex system logic takes over the entire material flow. Each unit is uniquely identified, scanned and – if necessary – fed, under system guidance, to the integrated VC-Count X-ray machine. The counting and reporting of components takes place directly within the process, without media breaks or manual intervention.
Depending on the application, reels can be stored upright or flat to achieve optimal storage density. Once released, rolls are gently paired with cassettes and clearly assigned to a storage location (upright storage), or placed directly on the shelf in a grid layout (horizontal storage). This ensures full traceability and 100% process reliability from the moment the material enters the system. Stock-in and stock-out operations take place without interruption, even in mixed-mode operation. Rolls and materials are made available for production as required, whilst storage takes place around the clock – even during off-peak hours.
Thanks to its modular architecture and open interfaces, the solution can be flexibly integrated with various customer requirements, such as goods-in tables, conveyor systems, AMR systems or higher-level ERP/MES systems. The system is scalable and can be implemented in room heights ranging from 2.2 to 30 metres, within production areas, in central warehouses or outside buildings. Hardware, robotics, software and system logic are all sourced from a single provider, enabling stable, transparent and future-proof operation – precisely tailored to the customer’s specific processes.
